World Games 2017 - Squash

From the 25th to 28th July the discipline "Squash" was held at the 10th World games in the biggest European Squashcenter "Hasta la Vista" in Wroclaw/Poland.

The German national team, which is equipped by VICTOR for some years now, arrived with their top players Simon Rösner, Raphael Kandra, Sina Kandra and Franziska Hennes who wanted to win some medals.

It were the German men who attracted the attention and got Squash into all media.

Our top player Raphael Kandra, fully equipped by VICTOR, reached the quarter final. His opponent was the Frenchman Mathiew Castagnet, who is nearly 30 places higher in the world ranking, but Randra showed an impressive performance. It was a lack of concentration, what was reason for the lost after a very tight and hard-fought match. However the current performance forebodes an exciting upcoming season!

Simon Rösner was the player of the tournament and attracted a big sensation.

But the top seeded German already struggled in the quarter final against the Colombian Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, who is equipped by VICTOR. The match was on the highest level and Rodríguez seemed to be back at his old strength. Finally Simon Rösner got into the next round with a 3:2 win.

In the semi final Rösner took revanche to Castagnet for the drop out of Kandra. He won with 3:1 and reached the final of the World Games. The figurehead of the German Squash Federation won the silver medal at the World Games 2013 and now was looking for gold.

In the final match the German played against Gregoire Marche, also from France. But Rösner had the control of the match and showed why he is one of the best players world wide.

Simon Rösner could win the match with 3:1 and saved his first gold medal at the World Games 2017!

We congratulate the German National Team, especially Simon Rösner, to this great success!
